Tres Lagos is a master planned 2500 acre land development located at the southwest corner of Ware Road and Monte Cristo in North McAllen. Melden & Hunt, Inc. first began working with developer Mike Rhodes in 1999 in preparation for Tres Lagos which is now becoming a reality.
Utilizing aerial photography to complete a topographical survey of the tract, MHI studied the drainage, utilities, and tile drainage. The first phase of the project covers 700 acres and consists of the main “spine infrastructure” including large water mains, sewer mains, drainage ditches and pipes, re-use effluent water for irrigation, paving of the two main boulevards, lighting, power, fiber, gas, and amenities. These amenities include hike and bike trails, parks, athletic courts, playgrounds, large pool, and an island that includes an amphitheater, picnic tables, and gathering areas.
An important part of the Tres Lagos project includes the building of educational facilities which includes a 100 acre Texas A&M University campus, IDEA school, and a McAllen ISD feeder school.
